For those who don't know how to sew and make their own costume including me, they prefer to order or buy the costume. While some prefer to buy from online shops a.k.a Taobao and Ezbeli which provides rater large and variety of choices, I prefer to have local tailor, online or whatsoever, to make the costume.

For me, my confidence and in-character come strongly from the costume I wear. The more perfect, detailed and matching the costume to the reference, the higher my confidence to play as the character. Therefore, I really really depend and trust 1000% on the tailor to produce great piece otherwise I might screw up the character.

Ruby's Cosplay Shop. Heard of the name before? You should. You see, there are many awesome online costume-makers in Malaysia, and basically I decided to try and order from this shop.

I used to deal with Nekoworkshop for both Taobao order and custom-made costumes but considering how Nekoworkshop is extremely busy and have limited slots, I have to search for an alternate shop that can make costume that would reach my expectation.

Like I said, I am VERY particular about costume because I depend ALOT on the costume to get in to character. When I order things I will and MUST do a review on it, no matter how horrible and life-screeching the product is.

As you may have known, this year comeback I'm planning to cosplay as Annna Kushina from K Project. I wish not to burden Nekoworkshop with this last minute order, so I seek for Ruby's kind and wonderful help instead.

By the way, before I reached out Ruby, I did ask EzBeli whether they can custom-made this costume since this costume is not available in their website. EzBeli accepts custom-made yo! Maybe I will try ordering from them in the future. I found Ruby CS randomly to be honest.

Desperate people takes desperate measures, and I was desperate okay!?

As you can see, Ruby provides top communication and very polite, attaining all my wth is this question and very VERY quick. I was a bit sad that they did not offer installments. I mean, installment as in you pay half, they work on it and then you pay another half once the costume is done. That's one point down compared to Nekoworkshop.

BUT!

If I were to compare the prices of Ruby's costumes with Nekoworkshop, I think I understand why they do not offer such facility. Most of Ruby's costumes based on their commission album is not more than RM 400, which should be affordable for one-time pay. Besides that, I think even though they don't offer installment facility as Nekoworkshop, Ruby gives pretty reasonable price!

I am surprised, so excuse my flabbergasting message in the screenshot.

May 29 - I asked for the costume price.
May 30 - I paid and confirmed my order.
June 7 - The costume's done.
June 13 - Received the costume.

Total days of wait - 15 days more or less

For your record, they DID say in their facebook page that they need at least two weeks to complete the order. I never hold on to the statement since I know costume making is hard, not to mention they might have few other orders in progress.

My brain at the time went: OH SHIT.

For your record, the OS is not because the costume was made by tailor from China I am not being racist here okay?!

When someone mentions MADE IN CHINA my brain immediately interprets it as TAOBAO QUALITY and to be honest, I don't buy costumes from Taobao. Okay, I did buy ONCE and that was a desperate, again, situation.

I have the feelings I sometimes being too direct that I think I might pop a vein from people, but see there? Ruby answered politely and explained to me the reason why the costume is done by the China tailor. Even though it's from China, it arrived early. Woooow.

When I first try the costume, I was a bit... disappointed? Maybe it's because my standard is too high and I was hoping it too be flawless like lolita dress which I should realize by that time that this is NOT lolita, but COSTUME. Since Mama is used to seeing me in lolita attire, she too became a bit fussy with the quality of the dress.

I decided to fix the costume on my own, bought large and medium size red satin ribbon, things and that. I even cut my Baju Kurung buttons to sew on the cape.

I did not order velveteen version because I don't want to suffocate myself. Velveteen is extremely hot and VERY heavy, not to mention it is hard to keep it clean. And oh the agony to iron and keep it in closet! I pre-sew the pair of ribbons and the hook as shown below:

I believe the tailor affiliate some parts of the costume with velveteen, which I think it's cool. Despite both the cotton (uniform sort of) fabric and velveteen are red in color, but because they are different materials, it appears as thought the dress has two shades of red on it.

I sew bows to each side of the sleeves. My sewing skill is horrible I get it~!!

I glued the pins which they provided. I like the pins to be static at place, not moving around. The small bow is actually for the sides of the sleeves but as you can see it is just so so small and simple.

So I used one of the two small bows for the collar, and let the big bow pin just above the pre-sew ribbons on the cape. That's how the top looks like after the alterations.

The skirt. Cotton and simple, very simple indeed. I have to keep in mind this COSTUME not LOLITA. /inner screams/

This is exactly how it arrives. No alteration has been made on the two pieces. I feel like crying to be honest. Maybe I should buy black lolita underskirt to replace the black skirt, or maybe petticoat. Yeah, at least that will fix my sudden wavy feelings on this costume.

They forgot there's a big bow behind the skirt! So, I made one. /giggles/

Velveteen hat. Seriously. I was in shock when I saw it. I ended up purchasing half meter satin fabric in red, some black laces and red ribbons to make a new mini top hat. The agony is unimaginable.

They provide hair clips for the top hat, but I did no take them. I mean, I'll be wearing hijab.

THE HORRIBLE AND NIGHTMARE OF MINE.

So after two days of hand-sewing and hot-gluing things, Here's the full view:

Excuse me, I don't wear makeup, I don't have red lens and the red marble yet. So time to rate RUBY'S COSPLLAY SHOP.

COMMUNICATION:  ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Communication is extremely important for me. When I buy something, I would like to have great two-ways communication. Ruby CS never gets tired to answer my questions, willing enough to acquire info and provide them just like I asked. They are very quick at reaching back you too!

PRICE-QUALITY MATCHING:  ★ ★ ★ ★
I can't judge the price without the quality. For RM 200 + RM 26 for the shipping cost, I am pretty satisfied with the costume. Look, it is not THAT horrible once I try it on after few stitches and hot glues.

TOTAL TIME IN PROGRESS:  ★ ★ ★ ★
Frankly, it is fast. I wonder if it's ready-made or custom-made but even so, the quality is manageable. Imagine the costume is done in FIFTEEN DAYS. I think few loose threads is cool.

OVERALL:  ★ ★ ★ ★
Will I order from Ruby's CS? YES DEFINITELY. I have yet to order costume from their another tailor. For your information, Ruby's CS also provides props and shoes making, taobao order service and lens ordering. Go and check out their page right now!

80% of my money usually goes to buying clothes, shoes and pieces to complete both my daily and lolita wardrobes. It is a very VERY rare occasion that I actually buy costume for cosplay not that I am an active cosplayer myself.

Let's just say my cosplay history consists of lots of trolls and goofing around, which I don't think I can call myself a cosplayer at all. NOW, however, I am taking one serious step at a time in cosplaying.

Being a cosplayer requires confident and great in-character esteem and for me, such things come from costume. Meaning, by wearing the costume, I feel more or less like the character and I can easily breathe in life into the character I am cosplaying, which is why I am very particular about where I buy my costume.

This year, Alhamdulillah, I have gained many friends who actually want to be my partner in cosplay. Among all of them is Aoi Ryuzaki, who I have known for quite some time. He proposed me to be his long-life cosplay partner, which made me flabbergasted to respond for few days. /laughs lightly/

We shared few same interested series and characters. So, Insya Allah, we will cosplay as duo for few cosplans.

For our first debut, or that's what people called, is from K Project. We both know there are many OTPs in the series, but both Aoi-kun and I just want to cosplay character we desire and love the most.

Aoi-kun wants to cosplay as Fushimi Saruhiko and I know, I know, Saru-Saki is the OTP, but I don't plan to cosplay as Misaki, or crossplay if I could say so myself.

I choose to cosplay as ANNA KUSHINA.

There's something extremely cute about this new Red King. Oops, sorry to spoil the surprise! I guess many should have known or pretty much guessed she's the Red King after Mikoto Suoh.

Many also know, especially you my sempai, that I have taken the Unbreakable Vow not to cosplay again few times already and yet here I am, already bought and had a costest as this adorable strain Red King and pretty much throw the vow out of the window.

Even so, I am most grateful and appreciate my sempai and friends and kouhai that remain cool with my return interest to cosplay. Domo arigatou /hearts/

Anyway! I ordered Anna Kushina costume from Ruby's Cosplay Shop. I have been ordering custom-made costumes from Nekoworkshop over the past years but as Nekoworkshop is completely overwhelmed with orders and limited slots, I have to search for new affordable and good quality cosplay costume commission shop.

Complete review of Ruby's Cosplay Shop commission here!

Some of you know that apart from cosplay, I am interested in lolita and, got to be honest, lolita pieces are soooo not cheap. It is as hole-drilling as cosplay in my purse and bank. I have to take some serious life-crisis decision making whether to buy lolita piece or costume for the particular month and I always end up buying both uughh!!

For now, you can say that I am 10000% CONFIRMED that I shall cosplay as Anna Kushina this year as my comeback. Wish me luck guys! Gambarimasu!

Haine is sulking and, well, let's just say our pride as, so-called by our colleagues, 'perfectionist' has gone down the drain. There's part of me that feels so humiliated of myself that I just want to quit.

But there's a part of me that says "failure is the best teacher in the world" and I should learn from my mistakes and keep things going.

My boss did not say "you are a failure, you should just quit". Instead, he was willing enough to recheck my work and accepted my failure. I guess that's what hit Haine so badly.

We both feel like we have betrayed their trust on us. I want to make them proud, to ease them and to let them believe hiring me- a Diploma holder- is not a waste.

Today, it made me think. Am I capable of doing such things?

Today is the day my boss scolded me. I can see in Encik Shahril's eyes the surprise and huge disappointment in me. He trusted me and now I doubt he does.

I doubt I trust myself and my work too.

Today is also the day my boss actually consulted me afterwards and said I had shown great effort but the output is no so 'comel' (great).

After scolding me, Miss Sarina called me and told me that I did show my effort and she admired it, but I get her message. When it comes to work- the adult world- effort is not enough. People want to see the product and that's what I'm lacking at.

Despite my effort is huge, I still not able to produce top-quality report. Sometimes I wonder myself, am I truly as smart as I thought I was back in college?

Today is the day my boss made me feel I should not be too over confident and do things more seriously.

I think it's time I change myself. Humans can't change in split second, but humans do have choices and they can change in time. Life evolves, so as humans, so as us.

For now, I am calming Haine down. We both feel we have lost in the battle we thought we are going to win. Humiliation and pride are scarred badly that to be able to put on the same confident face to both Encik Shahril and Miss Sarina might be hard- no, the hardest thing to do right now.

Conquer your failure and improve yourself. The greatest way to learn is through failure. I don't want to disappoint them anymore. To me, they are second parents- I have so much things to learn and to show them, to make them feel proud of me and make sure I contribute enough for them.

I like them. I like my bosses and my job.

So I must pull myself together, learn from my mistakes and improve my work.

Yes. That's what I will do.

With less than a month half, I need to step up and be serious.

Haine, I'm counting on you.

Suppressing the need to buy pieces and complete your lolita wardrobe is not easy. For me who only wear these beautiful dresses and accessories during event or special occasions like dinner with family or friends outings, it makes me wonder and struggle to come up with solid decision to purchase something.

I mean, I have never EVER gotten a chance to use my money to buy formal blouses and bottoms for work or college. Oh by the way, if I did manage to enroll in University of Malaya, I am soooo gonna wear these babies to classes.

I DONT CARE.

Anyway! I have mentioned in my previous post about me paying deposit for a dress from Grove Dear.

APRIL 4TH - Placed order and paid deposit for Grove Deer Cla OP in Gray Purple
MAY 20TH - Received message from Nyan the dress is ready for remaining balance
JUNE 3RD - The dress is done and ready to be shipped
JUNE 9TH - The dress arrived safely at my house

Once again, I ordered this dress through Nyan2Shoppu. Do check her service out! She's an excellent TS provider ♥ ♥

PRICE: RM 236.30 including RM 12 shipping cost.
The dress is not available anymore as the reservation period has ended.

MATERIAL(S): Thick chiffon with knit twill

The dress is a total beauty. I love the details and the comfort feeling I get when I put it on. The chiffon is thick enough to ensure that I am safe to wear it all the way, and yet it is airy and so soft on my skin. Because the collar is rather big and wide, I might have to buy a new blouse with high or princess collar. I think my Infanta Swan Lake blouse would fit perfectly.

Sorry that the dress appear brownish in the top right picture. I showed to Mama and she said the dress reminded her of Florence Nightingale. /laughs/ I guess I couldn't agree more to this! It is VERY hard to resist from buying new pieces for my wardrobe. My next taobao haul would probably cover both lolita and cosplay shopping.

OMG HANA IS BACK IN COSPLAY!

My cosplans are very little and limited. It's more of simply wanting to partner with a friend at least once than wanting to satisfy own's need. I don't wish to set my expectations high on my cosplans because... well, as you can see my heart sinks and my money flies for lolita pieces.

That's all for now! Till next time!

C2AGE (Cosplay, Comics, Anime & Games) Version 9.0
Venue: Help International School
Date: 6th and 7th of June, Saturday and Sunday
Time: 10 am to 7 pm

Attendance: 7th, Sunday only.
Ticketing: One day ticket, RM 25.
Dressed as: N/A
Overall rate: 1/5

I am sorry to say that I am not sure whether this year is the third or forth year of C2AGE. Either way, I am pretty sure that I have only attended C2AGE twice and the memories remain fresh in my mind. Anyway, Haine will do the honor to review the event.

Disclaimer:
This review is based on one's experience and personal opinion and is not being influenced by anyone except self-observation and judgement. I was present during the event not as organizer, volunteer or anyone with special privilege and I solemnly declare that I will give out my best, true and fair view of the event.

Location:

The venue had surprisingly done a great job at pissing me off. I know Hana and I are both have lack sense of direction but we have never EVER got lost this bad. EVER. Being an auditor who has gone so many places in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor for fieldwork and meeting clients, this is the first time I ever felt so ridiculously toyed and fooled and I am not impressed. My question would be- why the change of venue? I understand Help International School is rather big and spacious, provides more than enough locations for cosplayers and patrons to hang out and have photoshoots but seriously- why? I experienced an hour of lost and troubles and oh believe me I am not happy.

Management: ?

I was not even sure how to give my opinion regarding this. This is bad. We arrived around 1 pm and, to be honest, I felt like I attended school's day Hari Karnival Sekolah. My bad. The venue is after all at school compound, so I guess the school vibe is unavoidable. Anyway, let's not waste our time and... I just get to the point.

No interesting exhibitions from the event organizers.
Not many food stalls- stalls that sell PROPER food.
Lack of security - what if someone injured themselves at the court or behind the building?
No friendliness and good service

To be honest, the two years ago C2AGE had a better management. Don't compare the size of the venue. The crowd was three times horrible, with the venue so small and the guests caused the patrons went hysterical and turned into apes. Yet, the event organizer and team management to keep up good security and provided great help to people.

Oh and no survey and feedback? Huh.

Ticket price:

Okay, let me try to guess and sum up the event costs altogether. Venue, guests, facilities, event hall, management, utilities - RM 25. Being a girl who grows up in Kuala Lumpur and can spend RM 10 on an ice-blended, yeah that would be okay, but at least I am satisfied with the taste of the ice-blended.

But was I satisfied with the event at that price? Not really.

Don't say I am one tough kid to please. I can easily be amused by anything, if it is amusing. I enjoyed the eating competition and the performance, but that's it. Huh.

OVERALL: 1/5

Unlike Hana who practically takes even the smallest event of the universe like the first falling leaf during heat season as the most crucial event of her life, I don't exactly feel that way. The only reason I attend C2AGE is because of the sentimental feelings we both had on the event, for it was C2AGE that we found ourselves in love with cosplay once again after meeting difficulties to continue loving cosplay.

During the day, most of my memories filled with me and my friends trolling each other and that's that. Good events should include great memories that could connect me TO the event itself, perhaps mini outdoor games, shows and exhibitions. Known as COSPLAY, COMICS, GAME AND ANIME event, I was hoping the management to uphold the meaning.

You got cosplay related activities, but only on stage.
You got comics selling, but there are entirely on personal not organizer booths.
You got gaming area, but only to virtual gaming.
You implement everything with anime, but hardly anyone notices.

An event that made their patrons bring their own food, is not much of an event after all. An event is consider success if the patrons bring their own food either because they want to save their money to buy other stuff at the event or because they are too choosy with their diet.

When patron goes back home happy and satisfied with the event, that you know the event is successful. For now, all I can see is dark clouds over my head when people asked "How's C2AGE?"

Well, it's just for me I guess.

It's the second week of June. Hooray!

Well, the happiest part about the first and second weeks of month is our pocket is pretty loaded with salary or allowance. I mean, after working and bearing the pain, blood and sweat (oh the exaggeration!), I finally received the reward of my patience and hard work!

MONEY! /giggles/

But, I am not much of a money-saver. After allocate roughly half of my salary for Mama and Abah, I allow myself to be pampered in anyway I wish with the remaining amount of money I have.

HOW DO YOU KEEP TRACKS OF YOUR SPENDING?!

It's not easy, to be honest. It takes a great and strong sense of dedication and desire of wanting to keep tracks of things to do this. Haine dislikes to see her money suddenly POOFS without a trace in just a week.

BEHOLD!
THE APPLICATION THAT KEEPS HAINE AT EASE!

Okay- no- wait- GUYS! FOCUS ON THE APPLICATIONS NOT THE BACKGROUND!
 /sweats, sighs/ honestly!
See an application called expenses manager? This is an AMAZING application that helps you to keep track of what and where you spend your money. It is simple, easy and pretty user-friendly, if you are willing enough to learn and explore the functions on your own. I took me roughly three days to figure out the extent of this application.

Well folks, now you know who controls what. And yes, the amount is sad but true. These are the functions they provide:
1. You can add your own account, for example mine is Cash and Bank.
2. Budget function will be explained below.
3. Income means the money goes to you.
4. Expense means the money fly away from you.
5. Transfer function is similar to money draw out from bank atm and stuff.
6. Custom-made expense and income names which helps you to track down your expenses and income, for example under ONLINE SHOPPING category, I have COSPLAY, LOLITA, CLOTHINGS.

The best thing about this application is the BUDGET function.
You can see in the picture the meter, the amount and the limit. For now everything is still green but slowly it will turn orange and red if I end up spending more and more money on the stuff that I have placed under budget.

Haine is pleased with this application so much she keeps checking it not that the income can suddenly increase or the balance of the month can turn 500 back.

It's Nisfu Syaaban today! Well, not exactly.

Does anyone knows what is Nisfu Syaaban?

Nisfu Syaaban refers to the fifteenth of Syaaban, which is a month before Ramadhan and the eight month in Islamic calendar. Nisfu itself means half, which means half of the Syaaban. Syaaban is one of the glorious months for Muslims and there are lots of Hadiths about this particular date in Syaaban.

Aishah and I fasted during the day and we thought of going out for dinner just the two of us to celebrate the day. Okay, well- we don't exactly celebrate Nisfu Syaaban but because today was such a wonderful day for both of us, we wanted to end it with great food.

We both DID argue about what and where to have our dinner. After super exhausting but short lmao discussion slash arguments on Halal food, we finally decided to have our dinner at Sixty9 Islamic Steakhouse.

I know. No pun intended.

Sixty9 Islamic Steakhouse is quite recently open for business restaurant specializes in western food. There are variety of dishes to choose from. Let's see what Hana and Aishah had for dinner.

Fish and Chips with Iced Lemon Tea for Hana.
Spaghetti Bolognaise with Iced Lemon Tea for Aishah.

Apparently, Aishah starved for a plate of Spaghetti with meatballs. She is the type of girl who has to eat rice and yet maintains to be so freaking skinny or she will starve again. Since this is steakhouse, I convinced that there won't be any rice served and I was right.

We were starving, don't mind my pouting face

We found the place was very relaxing, suitable for quiet and exclusive dining plan. I was quite impressed by the interior since the restaurant has this quite Western design, neither over the top nor too unclassy. To be honest, though, to me it sort of miss the market target. I mean, Taman Melawati is, pardon me but, middle-class residential area. It's not like Bangsar or Bangi where you can see the residents dining in restaurant and willing enough to pay RM 8 for a glass of Tea O. Pardon me if I'm wrong, but I do have friends who would do that because they live there and they are willing to pay since they said it's 'affordable'. God knows what they would mean 'expensive' then.

Neutella Cheese Tart for our dessert!

We both carved for something sweet and worth our time dessert to properly wrap our dinner. So, Aishah picked this Neutella Cheese Tart and it was DEL-LI-CI-OUS. Truthfully, I am a fan of cheese tart but good lord, I can't handle some bakers put EGGS as the topping. Haine can't handle egg yolks much, she feels nauseous.

After awhile, probably around 8pm, the chef came out of the kitchen and started greeting patrons, asking for their feedbacks.

Being Hana, who is highly confident of her feedback, decided to share her view on the food and whatnot. Hey, we got great chef at our home kitchen aka our mom. Hana was kind enough to points few things, complimented the chef for the amazing presentation of the dishes, the taste and all oh it's all Masterchef thing! and was happy to blog about the experience which is why I'm writing the entry right now!

SO! RATING!

Management and serving: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
The serving was the top. Even though there were not many customers that night, the staff was always there to serve you pronto. Some restaurant employees simply wander around, not bother of asking whether you want a refill or not because too busy whilst there are not many customers at the time. Therefore, it is worth to grant four stars for the amazing service!
The food: ★ ★ ★
They are delicious and SUPER satisfying. You feel full not even after finishing half of the plate. It was crazy, good thing we were fasting during the day. The seasoning hits the mark, neither too over the top nor too off the class. I mean, this is steakhouse we are talking about so the chef must have trying to maintain some sort of level.
Price: ★ ★
Like I have mentioned before, Taman Melawati is a middle-class residential area whereby majority of them would not spend above RM 5 just for a glass of soda drink. However, considering that this IS a steakhouse, then I guess it is legit the price is quite high. For one plate of Spaghetti Bolognaise with a glass of unlimited refill of iced lemon tea, Aishah spent RM 28.80 while I spent RM 27.80 and THAT does not include GST, folks. The dessert costs RM 12.90. I seek for opinions from my friends, other food reviewers and, of course, my family about the price. Most of them agreed that they are quite expensive.
OVERALL: ★ ★ ★

Being a daughter who has been eating western and fast food called A&W since had mastered the art of walking, I would say this is not the best western restaurant I have been in term of price. I have yet to taste the actual steak and I bet THAT will definitely determine the actual rate of this steakhouse. I mean STEAK-HOUSE, man. I must be out of my mind to actually judge and review the restaurant overall potential with just two plates of out-of-main-course dishes!

Insya Allah, I will revisit this amazing restaurant for the real discovery.
